Britten with AUKSO

Britten with AUKSO

‘’A sequence of images recalling sensations” – that is how Artur Międzyrzecki who brilliantly translated Les Illuminations of Arthur Rimbaud into Polish described this ingenious suite of prose poems.

Benjamin Britten, the composer, picked only nine poems of out of the Rimbaud’s vast cycle and set them originally for soprano and strings, but soon after that, thanks to Peter Pears, the version with a tenor voice was acclaimed by the composer and became even more widespread.

On the 30th of July and on the 13th of August Karol Kozłowski will sing Britten’s Les Illuminations with AUKSO Chamber Orchestra conducted by Marek Moś during the 18th AUKSO Summer Philharmonic first in Suwałki Culture Center  and then in the Church of St John the Baptist in Jaworki.

The programme of these two concerts will be repeated during the upcoming season in NOSPR (24th of February 2018) – Kozłowski, Moś and AUKSO will perform another masterly work of Benjamin Britten: Serenade for tenor, horn and strings Op.31.
