Haendel in the post-industrial landscape


On the 14th of September 2018 at 7 pm the main event of the 4th Baroque Opera Festival Dramma per Musica will take place. In the former factory (now a cultural centre) on the right side of the Vistula river called “Mała Warszawa”, the premiere of George Friedrich Haendel’s opera Alcina will be held. The libretto was inspired by the epic poem of Lodovico Ariosto Orlando furioso. The dancer and choreographer Jacek Tyski has undertaken to direct this operatic masterpiece. Marta Fiedler, both dancer and designer, prepared the costumes. Sylwester Łuczak did the spectacular multimedia stage design. The title role will be performed by the eminent Ukrainian soprano Olga Pasichnyk. The lover Ruggiero will be sung by Anna Radziejewska. The cast will be completed by Joanna Krasuska-Motulewicz (Bradamante), Olga Siemieńczuk (Morgana), Artur Janda (Melisso) and Joanna Lalek (Oberto). Karol Kozłowski will sing Oronte. The orchestra of period instruments Royal Baroque Ensemble and the Collegium Musicum UW Choir will be conducted by Lilianna Stawarz. The second performance will be held  on the next day and the concert version of the opera will be presented on the 12th of November 2018 in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw at 7 pm.
